Frumil® is a diuretic medication that decreases the amount of water in the body promoting urination. Frumil® tablets are used to treat hypertension (elevated blood pressure) and edema. Suitable for patients over 18 years of age.

Active Ingredient
Description
Frumil® is manufactured by Geno Pharmaceutical. The active substances of these tablets are Furosemide, a sulfonamide-type loop diuretic, and Amiloride, an antihypertensive, potassium-sparing diuretic.
Indications:
- peripheral edema or edema associated with heart failure, chronic renal failure (renal impairment) or nephrotic syndrome;
- management of hypertension (elevated blood pressure).
Frumil® also can be used as an alternative oral agent for management of nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (do not confuse with diabetes mellitus or sugar diabetes), followed by abnormal production of urine (polyuria) and constant thirst (polydipsia).
MOA (mechanism of action):
Furosemide inhibits water reabsorption in the nephron (basic kidney unit) by blocking the absorption of sodium, chloride and excessive liquid from the kidney tubules, thereby increasing urine formation (diuresis). With increased urination, Furosemide makes unnecessary water leave the body, therefore reduces the volume of blood in vessels and lowering blood pressure.
Amiloride binds to certain sodium channels and inhibits sodium reabsorption in the tubules and collecting ducts in the kidneys. This promotes the loss of sodium and water leading to the reduction of plasma and extracellular fluid volume. With the decrease of the aforementioned substances, peripheral resistance got reduced as well, which leads to lower blood pressure.
Dosage
Frumil® tablets should be swallowed whole and taken on an empty stomach with some water.
The exact dosage, as well as the course duration, must be determined by a doctor for each individual patient.
Frumil® tablets are only for oral use.
Do not take Frumil® later than 12 noon, as the diuretic action of this medicine may disturb your sleep.
Do not give Frumil® to patients under 18 years of age.
Potassium blood level should be monitored carefully during the Frumil® treatment course.
Edema and hypertension:
The average recommended dose is 1-2 tablets (40-80 mg/5-10 mg) daily, preferably in the morning.
