Cebran® Eye Drops are indicated for the treatment of external bacterial eye infections. Namely, the drops cure conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, superficial ocular infection. Suitable for individuals over 1 year of age. Solution cannot be used for injection.

Description
Cebran® Eye Drops are manufactured by Blue Cross. The medication possesses Ciprofloxacin as an active ingredient, a 2nd generation broad-spectrum antibiotic from the drug class called Fluoroquinolones (also known as Quinolones).
Indications:
- bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, and in pre and post-surgical prophylaxis.
MOA (mechanism of action):
Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic antimicrobial agent that exhibits its bactericidal action through inhibiting the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme, required for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination. Ciprofloxacin is effective against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Proteus mirabilis, Providencia rettgeri, Morganella morganii, Citrobacter diversus, Citrobacter freundii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Streptococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Campylobacter jejuni, Shigella flexneri and Shigella sonnei.
Dosage
For corneal ulcers: instill 2 drops into the treated eye every 15 minutes for the first 6 hours and then 2 drops into the treated eye every 30 minutes for the remainder of day 1.
Day 2: instill 2 drops in the treated eye hourly.
Day 3 - Day 14: instill 2 drops in the treated eye every 4 hours. Treatment may be continued after 14 days if corneal re-epithelialization has not occurred.
For conjunctivitis: instill 1 or 2 drops instilled into the conjunctival sac(s) every 2 hours, while awake, for 2 days and 1 or 2 drops every 4 hours, while awake, for the next 5 days.
For superficial eye infection: instill 1 or 2 drops in the treated eye(s) 4 times a day. In severe infections, the dosage for the first 2 days may be 1 or 2 drops every 2 hours while awake.
The maximum duration of therapy of 21 days is recommended.
Precautions:
Ciprofloxacin solution is not for injection.
Ciprofloxacin solution is associated with allergic reactions, even following a single dose. Discontinue using drops immediately and contact your physician at the first sign of a rash or allergic reaction.
Prolonged use of Cebran® Eye Drops may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs, discontinue using these drops and institute alternative therapy.
Avoid contaminating the applicator tip with eye, fingers or another source.
Cebran® Eye Drops may cause your vision to blur temporarily after you have applied them into your eye. Do not drive or operate machinery until this has worn off.
Patients should not wear contact lenses while using Ciprofloxacin solution for eye infection.
Wash your hands before using the eye drops.
Missing a dose
If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately. A topical overdose of Cebran® Eye Drops may be flushed from the eye(s) with lukewarm tap water.

If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately. A topical overdose of Besivance ophthalmic solution may be flushed from the eye(s) with lukewarm tap water.
Storage
Store at cool room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Use within one month after opening a container. Keep out of the reach of children.
