Doxypet®
Active Ingredient

Doxycycline, Lactic Acid Bacillus.

Description

Doxypet® manufacturer is SavaVet. The raw materials of the medication are Doxycycline and Lactic Acid Bacillus. Doxycycline is semisynthetic tetracycline class antibiotic of broad-spectrum, also known as antimalarials agent. Lactic Acid Bacillus (Lactobacillus) is a live microorganism used in the treatment of diarrhea, infectious diarrhea, and diarrhea associated with taking antibiotics.

Indications:

- urinary tract infections;

- respiratory infections;

- blood-borne infections (Hemotrophic Mycoplasmosis) and wound infections;

- tick-borne bacterial diseases (e.g., Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis);

- Wolbachia, an organism that infects heartworms, in an effort to treat heartworm disease.

Doxypet® is not effective for treating infections caused by a virus or fungus.

MOA (mechanism of action):

Doxycycline is bacteriostatic, meaning that it blocks the synthesis of essential for bacteria proteins, which guarantee bacteria functioning. Adequate Lactobacillus amount restores the balance of good microorganisms in the gut that may get upset during taking antibiotics or due to intestinal infections.

Dosage

The usual dosage is 5 mg/kg of body weight every 12 hours orally.

The duration of treatment depends on the condition being treated, response to the medication and the development of any adverse effects.
